Yesterday was nothing short of magical as we hosted our Annual Witches Fly-In with Pagosa Adventure in Pagosa Springs! With perfect weather and a sky filled with witches, it was a day of fun, laughter, and adventure that we won’t soon forget.

Witches Take to the Skies!

Witches, young and old, traded in their broomsticks for hot air balloons and took flight in true Halloween fashion. Dressed in their best witch costumes, participants enjoyed a free hot air balloon ride, soaring above the stunning autumn landscapes of Pagosa Springs. From pointy hats to spooky accessories, our guests brought the spirit of Halloween to new heights—literally!

A Perfect Day for Flying

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for our spooky event. The cool, crisp air and clear skies allowed for spectacular views of the San Juan Mountains, with the trees showing off their vibrant fall colors. The scene below, dotted with golden forests and winding rivers, made for a truly enchanting flight. Guests floated peacefully above Pagosa Springs, taking in the beauty of Colorado’s autumn while embracing the festive fun of the holiday.

Fun On the Ground

For those waiting their turn or simply enjoying the festivities, the ground was buzzing with Halloween excitement. From photo opportunities with the balloons to mingling with fellow witches, there was no shortage of fun to be had. The event was family-friendly, and it was wonderful to see kids dressed up, excited to be part of the adventure.

Why the Witches Fly-In is Special

Our Witches Fly-In has become a beloved tradition here at Pagosa Adventure. It’s not just about the free flights—it’s about community, adventure, and celebrating the magic of Halloween in a way that’s unique to Pagosa Springs. Pagosa locals may struggle to enjoy the adventures that our tourists so enjoy due to time and financial constraints, this event is a way to give back to our community and helps those who may not be able to enjoy a hot air balloon ride during other times of the year, and it is so much fun. This year we had 26 witches gather, and it was just truly amazing. Whether it’s your first time flying with us or you’re a regular, the joy and excitement of seeing witches take to the skies is something truly special.

What Made This Year Extra Special

This year we had a treat, a group booked and asked to do a proposal at “highest altitude”. I explained to the gentleman that this was our annual Witches Fly In event and there would be 20+ people in witch costumes, including the pilot and crew. I offered to switch to a different day, but he said no this sounds great! So at 10,000 MSL with a basket full of Witches he dropped to one knee and asked “will you marry me?” Tears welled in her eyes as she whispered yes. While I knew it was coming the rest of the witches did not, so I pointed them out with an “oh you guys look what just happened”. The basket erupted with congratulations and there were more tears of joy for the newly engaged. I believe the smile on her face says everything we need to know!

Looking Ahead to Next Year

If you missed this year’s event, don’t worry! We’ll be hosting the Witches Fly-In again next Halloween season. Stay tuned for updates and make sure you’re ready to take flight next October. The Witches Fly-In is an event you won’t want to miss!

A big thank you to everyone who came out and made this year’s event such a success. We loved seeing all the creative costumes and sharing the magic of hot air ballooning with you.

Until next year, keep your witch hats ready and your broomsticks grounded—we’ll see you in the skies again soon! 🎈🧙‍♀️
