Summer Day

Summer Day was the first balloon owned by Pagosa Adventure. Before Cody and I got married, or even engaged, he said I am going to buy you a balloon. Did we have our certificates to fly (Pilot’s License) NO we did not, he bought the balloon for me and it sat for a while before we went to flight school. We chose the name Summer Day because it was our favorite run at Wolf Creek Ski Area. The balloon was a Galaxy (FireFly) 9B 120,000 cu ft. Ironically enough, this balloon was too large to be a trainer balloon, so we had to purchase another balloon to learn in.

Nizhoni Pagosa

Nizhoni Pagosa and I have a long, long history together. Nizhoni was the second balloon purchased by Pagosa Adventure as our “trainer balloon”. A dear friend named Sharon Tiano came up with the design in 1983 and the original balloon was an old Colt 77. My mom purchased the balloon from Sharon and my first ride in Nizhoni was when I was 6 years old. My mom later sold it to the organization she and my dad were apart of “the Red Rock Balloon Rally” and they had the envelope rebuilt. The artwork on it is the original artwork though. My mom and dad and family friends continued to fly the balloon until Cody and I bought it. We renamed it from Nizhoni Gallup to Nizhoni Pagosa. Nizhoni is the Navajo word for beautiful. The artwork is of the Hopi Kachina Tawa- the Sunface Kachina. The balloon is an Aerostar s60A 105,00 cu ft.

Hermosa Pagosa

Hermosa Pagosa was the third balloon added to the fleet of balloons. Hermosa is the Spanish word for beautiful  and Hermosa Pagosa seemed to fit perfectly with the Nizhoni Pagosa. Hermosa is an UltraMagic N160, 160,000 cu ft.

Mar’s Rover

a large balloon in the sky

Mar’s Rover is what is called a cloud hopper. It is a single seat balloon. The pilot uses a 5 point harness and straps to the propane tank. A seat folds down and that is where the pilot sits. A hopper was a dream of mine since I was 12 years old and sat in one for the first time. It took 25 years to make that dream a reality. Mar’s Rover is a Cameron M34, 34,000 cu ft.

No Lift

No Lift is a decommissioned balloon that Pagosa Adventure uses as a demonstration for those who are interested in ballooning. No longer airworthy we will cold inflate the balloon and allow people to walk inside. No Lift’s name was selected as the balloon has No Lift Left. No Lift is an Aerostar 120,000 cu ft.

Pagosa Disco

Pagosa Disco is also a decommissioned balloon that is no longer airworthy. Also used as a “walk-through” balloon. Pagosa Disco is a Raven 77, 77,000 cu ft.

Piano Man

Piano Man was added to the fleet in September of 2023. a balloon built for a specific flight over Mt. Kilimanjaro. After the flight over the largest mountain in Africa Piano Man came to live in Pagosa Springs. Piano Man was earned it’s name by the white and black and white piano keys around the equator. Piano Man is an UltraMagic N180, 180,00 cu ft.

Good luck, and we can’t wait to see your amazing ideas! 🎨✍️
